The Frederick Gunn School is a private, co-educational, grades 9-12 college preparatory boarding and day school in Washington CT. CES provided MEP/FP, lighting and security engineering for the construction of this English Tudor and Shingle Style Arts & Community Center on the 220 acre campus. The new LEED certified building is net zero ready featuring geothermal heating and cooling, radiant floor heating and a fossil-fuel-free HVAC system. CES incorporated roof mounted solar photovoltaic and solar thermal panels. The Frederick Gunn School’s distinguished visual and performing arts programs are realized within this Center. The building includes music, drawing, painting, ceramics, graphic arts and photography studios, a darkroom and 415 seat performing arts theater. A parking lot was added adjacent to the building as well as a new campus green for traffic-free student and faculty gatherings.
