CES provided MEP/FP and technology engineering design services for a new net-zero-ready elementary school constructed on the site of the former Spaziano Annex Elementary School. The facility accommodates approximately 684 PreK-5 students.
Key design features include classroom pods that support team teaching, individual learning commons for each grade level, and a compact building footprint tailored to meet educational needs within a constrained site. The design also incorporates rooftop solar capacity to support future energy goals.
A heat pump-based Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system delivers efficient, all-electric heating and cooling, eliminating the need for fossil fuels. The project targets a low Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of 28 and complies with Northeast CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance Schools) standards.
