CES worked closely with the design team on the renovation of the former GE office campus, retrofitting it into learning and support spaces for Sacred Heart University. At the forefront of the redesign was the addition of a new central plant within the shell of the existing three-story building. Working closely with the architect, CES was able to route utilities within occupiable or previously used space, creating newly coordinated paths for the MEP systems.
CES converted the building that was previously heated with electric radiation to high efficiency condensing gas boilers. Significant energy savings will be realized with these new systems and the use of LED lighting.
Technology and audio-visual systems throughout the campus will allow for long-distance learning and will support a Verizon co-working space. Other spaces include: a 15,000 sf maker-space with wood, metal and wet lab to support the School of Engineering, an artificial intelligence lab and robotics and computer center.
