CES provided MEP/FP design services for the renovation of a three-story penthouse in Central Park West. The family residence features amenities such a two-story living room space with central fireplace, wrap around terrace, two home office spaces, a basketball court, and a playroom equipped with a rock climbing wall and bunk room.
The renovation entailed designing for a new Mitsubishi variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat recovery system, as well as a steam humidification system integrated within VRF fan coil units and single pipe steam radiators for supplemental heating. Additionally, the team devised plans for an electrical upgrade, boosting service to 200 amps with three-phase capability, and implementing electrical radiant floor heating to bathrooms.
CES successfully navigated spatial constraints incorporating domestic indoor booster pumps to supply additional hot/cold water pressure for bathrooms, the kitchen and laundry room. Close coordination was required to incorporate AC units and duct work around existing systems in penthouse level.
