This estate includes a 20,000 sf main house, 2,000 sf guest house, 1,000 sf pool house, 5,000 sf barn, 1,000 garage, 1,000 sf gate house, and a 600 sf greenhouse on a 30 acre property.
Premium quality MEP systems were coordinated within the architectural and structural design in 3D using BIM software. CES performed many virtual walkthroughs to fine tune coordination. A
very high level of detail, coordination, and quality was required to precisely fit MEP systems within each building and appropriately within the landscape. CES attended numerous design meetings and teleconferences to collaborate with the design and construction team. We paid special attention to noise reduction, working with an acoustical engineer to ensure the subtlety of all MEP systems and equipment. MEP specifics include a closed loop geothermal system, dual fuel backup generators, fireplace and kitchen makeup air, DDC control system, dry pipe sprinkler system within the barn, and VESDA (very early smoke detection apparatus) in the main house. A hydronic driveway and stairway snowmelt system was also included. At 30,000 sf, this is the largest snowmelt system CES has designed on a residence.
