Energy Recovery High Performance Building Design LEED Silver Net Zero Ready |
Following a 2020 study of Lyons Elementary School, North Randolph Elementary School was approved to replace the old overcrowded Lyons building to accommodate 400 PreK-5 students. This high performance design, net-zero ready building has received LEED Silver certification.
Created with both students and the broader community in mind, the school’s first floor contains a gymnasium, cafeteria, and media center secured off from academic space to allow for after-hours access.
Removing the traditional hot water boiler plant, CES designed the building’s entire heating system with VRF heat pumps, reducing initial costs and energy usage. VRF was also designed for cooling while a dedicated outside air (DOA) system provides proper ventilation for the school. LED lighting was implemented throughout.
