A household name for New England gardeners, Mahoney’s Garden Center has grown from a single shop in Winchester, MA into a family-run business with locations across the region.
This renovation and addition to the existing Brighton facility created an expanded greenhouse environment with improved customer experience in mind, including a new pottery room and upgraded checkout area—while maintaining the charm and practicality customers have come to expect.
To support the enhanced program, CES designed new mechanical and fire protection systems that work seamlessly with the greenhouse structure. Five 260 MBH gas-fired unit heaters serve the greenhouse spaces, while a 15-ton gas-fired rooftop unit (RTU) ensures comfort in the checkout zone. A new sprinkler system was also added to bring the building up to code. The team navigated logistical complexities of working with a Netherlands-based greenhouse vendor to ensure integration of systems and successful delivery.
