To accommodate their newly established bachelor of science nursing program, this new campus hosts the New York-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences programs. Iona College acquired a former library building to be converted into a large bedside skills lab. Students can learn fundamental nursing skills and medication administration in a simulated hospital-like environment.
CES worked diligently with the design team and construction manager to meet the compressed deadline of this project. Design and construction were expedited; existing building survey and design coordination were all very critical to allow this project to be completed in 18 months.
Our team took great consideration into the spatial programming of the existing structure so that it could properly support the dense technology of the simulation program that was worked into the existing floor plan. More cooling and ventilation was accomplished by using dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS) and variable refrigerant flow (VRF).
