Following the demolition of the former Henry J. Winters Elementary School, a new construction STEAM facility focusing on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics took its place. The three-story elementary school accommodates 643 students for grades pre-K through fifth. The school contains many security and logistics measures to isolate it from the highly dense urban neighborhood it is situated within.
CES provided MEP/FP services including energy efficient HVAC systems featuring temperature controls in individual classrooms. VRF systems supply AC and primary heating. A dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) is used for ventilation of classrooms (with AC and heat). A gas fired, high efficiency, condensing boiler is used for supplemental heating. The building is controlled by a full DDC Building Management System. LED lighting is featured throughout including daylight controls. This project is NE-CHPS compliant.
