Established in 1922, Eaglebrook School is a private boarding school for boys in grades 6-9. Spanning 850 acres, the school is comprised of academic buildings and six residential homes accommodating over 250 students and faculty members.
Currently, Eaglebrook is undertaking design and construction of a new 33,000 sf campus dining hall designed to serve the entire school three family-style meals daily. CES is providing MEP/FP engineering design services for this project.
Nestled into the natural mountain landscape, the innovative building houses a teaching kitchen and lounge. The dining hall aims to be the first Zero Net Energy (ZNE) cafeteria with an impressive Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of 121.7 (compared to the typical dining hall baseline of 290 EUI). The design incorporates features including displacement ventilation, energy recovery systems, radiant flooring, 21 geothermal wells, and a generator.
Despite the challenges of concealing equipment and minimizing visual obstructions to nearby structures, the project is progressing on schedule and within budget. Anticipated to achieve LEED certification, the dining hall represents a significant step towards sustainability and environmental consciousness for Eaglebrook School.
