This 6th to 12th grade specialized high school is located in the greater Hartford area. CREC Public Safety Academy focuses on providing training and experience for students who are interested in a public safety or emergency medical career.
This new facility features a formal entrance sequence approaching the school from the main road, immediate awareness of Specialty Labs and PS Multi-purpose/ atrium activities upon entering the school, and Middle School classrooms organized as grade-level teams, supported by a single Middle School faculty work room. All other faculty are supported by a shared faculty work room to facilitate collaboration, and specialty Labs are located adjacent to the PS multi-purpose/ atrium on multiple floor levels. The building also features daylight and views for all occupied spaces. The school’s gymnasium and auditorium have easy after-hours access. Additionally, there are separated bus drop-off, parent drop-off, and visitor parking areas, an outdoor activity area for fitness and professional training exercises, and a 400 meter all-weather track with competition field within.
The new MEP systems include: gas fired high efficiency boiler plant; VRF cooling systems; highly integrated direct digital controls; dedicated outside air systems; automatic lighting control systems; 50 kW photovoltaic system array; 500 kW on site standby generator system; low consumption plumbing fixtures; automatic plumbing fixture control, and point of use water heating systems for ganged toilet rooms.
