Big Sky Bravery is a nonprofit organization founded in 2015 to support active-duty Special Operations Forces through immersive retreat programs in Montana’s wilderness. The program provides time and space for decompression, recovery, and reconnection following high-intensity missions.
The retreat campus includes five new buildings consisting of a central lodge, three residential cabins, and an activity barn, all located on a previously undeveloped woodland site. Buildings were carefully sited to respond to the sloped terrain and challenging soil conditions while preserving the natural character of the landscape and creating a quiet, restorative environment.
CES provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering for the project, including onsite fire cistern system design coordinated with the civil engineer. Building systems were designed to support year-round operation in a remote mountain setting, with an emphasis on occupant comfort, durability, and life safety.
