Currently in design, the new Baystate Community Health Center is envisioned as a transformative 90,000-square-foot facility that will centralize services and create a true “medical neighborhood” for the Greater Springfield community. Located at the intersection of Wilbraham Road and Alden Street, the new center will offer comprehensive primary care, integrated behavioral health, and ancillary services for children, families, and adults — all in one accessible, transit-friendly location with ample parking.
Our team is providing full MEP/FP engineering design services, along with IT, data, and security systems. Sustainability and long-term operational efficiency are central to the project’s design approach. The building will be fully fossil fuel-free and net zero-ready, powered by a robust infrastructure that includes a geothermal HVAC system with 100 vertical bores and four 25,000 CFM air handling units serving VAV boxes throughout the facility.
To further support the project’s energy goals, the design also incorporates 300 kW of rooftop solar PV and 1,200 kW of solar carports. These features required early coordination to optimize site layout and system performance.
The center will deliver high-performance, low-carbon operations with significant long-term energy savings while advancing Baystate’s commitment to accessible, community-focused care.
