Position Summary
Responsible for managing the commissioning activities of mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, power and lighting systems as well as building envelope systems.
Professional with office and/or field experience in MEP engineering, commissioning services, HVAC controls contracting, testing + balancing contracting and/or HVAC field contracting required.
Essential Functions
The Commissioning Project Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage projects and associated clients from design phase through warranty phase commissioning. Overall intent is to ensure that systems, equipment, and facilities are designed, installed, tested, and functioning correctly before they are handed over to clients or put into operation. This role will include a mix of in office and onsite field work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Project Planning:
- Collaborate with Design Team and Owner Representatives at project startup and throughout the project duration in the development of commissioning documentation, and coordinating and executing commissioning activities.
- Testing and Inspection:
- Inspect installations for compliance with design specifications, regulatory standards as well as accessibility of components.
- Oversee/conduct functional and performance testing of systems and equipment.
- Documentation:
- Oversee and execute development of commissioning reports, and project documentation.
- Maintain and be able to communicate information regarding detailed records of test results, issues, and resolutions.
- Troubleshooting:
- Identify and resolve issues and deficiencies during the commissioning process.
- Coordinate with design team, owner representatives, contractors and subcontractors to address problems.
Qualifications
- Experience or familiarity with Building Management Systems/Controls and/or HVAC system testing and balancing; Construction Management
- Knowledge of engineering principles and systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong verbal and writing skills
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites
