Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer


The Mechanical Engineer PFP is responsible for the design and layout of plumbing and fire protection systems.

Essential Functions

  • Design plumbing and fire protection portions of a project using engineering formulas and skills for ensuring safety and technical accuracy.
  • Review design project for code compliance.
  • Identify and select equipment from appropriate manufacturing catalogs for specific applications.
  • Ability to perform on-site investigations and surveys prior to design and during construction.
  • Coordinate the contract documents between engineering disciplines for architects.
  • Provide technical support to contractors throughout construction.
  • Perform own drafting/design using AutoCAD and/or Revit and reviews own work for accuracy.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations using computer software.
  • Coordinate utility requirements with local utility companies including obtaining hydrant flow test data for project sites.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree preferred in mechanical engineering with 2 to 5 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to draft using AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Strong oral and written skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks effectively.
