CES is providing full MEP/FP engineering design services for the renovation of UConn’s 110,000 sf Greer Field House—transforming the aging facility into a dynamic, modern hub for athletics and student support. The reimagined space will feature hydrotherapy areas, indoor rowing tanks, expansive athletic training zones, specialized locker rooms, and a student success center dedicated to
tutoring and academic services.
The project presents unique challenges, particularly in fitting a complex program into the constraints of the existing architecture and structure. CES is working closely with the design team to coordinate systems within tight spatial parameters, ensuring seamless integration while enhancing performance, comfort, and long-term flexibility.
A strong focus on sustainability is woven throughout the design, supporting the project’s goal of achieving LEED v4 Gold certification. Strategies include advanced energy metering, LED interior lighting, enhanced indoor air quality (IAQ) measures, and thermal comfort systems. The design also incorporates both minimum and enhanced indoor air quality standards, an indoor air quality
assessment plan, and fundamental and enhanced refrigerant management. These efforts reflect our commitment to creating efficient, healthy environments while aligning with UConn’s broader energy and environmental goals.
