The Ferris Athletic Center, initially constructed in 1968, serves as Trinity College’s hub for athletic sports and fitness activities. It offers a wide range of amenities, including facilities for swimming and rugby, and is accessible to all students and staff on campus, promoting overall wellness and health.

Trinity College embarked on an exciting expansion project, introducing a new construction two-story, 33,000-square-foot Wellness and Recreation Center as an extension of the Athletic Center. This addition will house Trinity’s nationally recognized squash program, featuring a field house, viewing gallery, gym, pool, and workout areas. The second level contains athletic offices.

CES collaborated closely with the Construction Manager (CM) to maximize the value of the project within budgetary limits. Efforts focused on optimizing both the functionality and the aesthetic appeal of the building, prioritizing cost-effectiveness.

MEP/FP designs include packaged rooftop units equipped with ducted Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes. Lighting incorporates energy-efficient LED fixtures with multiple levels of control. The project includes the addition of a new electrical service. A backup generator ensures power in the event of extended power outages when the facility will be used as a warming center for city residents.
