CES was involved in the transformation of two existing apartments into a single-family residence. The residence showcases innovative elements such as LED screens integrated into the powder room ceiling and a floating staircase between floors. Among its distinctive features is a living moss ceiling adorning the living room.

In terms of functionality, the team created designs for six split AC systems, employing through-wall condensing units paired with ducted air handlers throughout the residence. To ensure optimal comfort, a steam humidification system was integrated internally within the AC units. Additional enhancements include an inline dehumidifier and duct heater to regulate kitchen makeup air, as well as single pipe steam radiators with individual controls for heating. Electric radiant floor heat was incorporated in bathrooms throughout the apartment.

CES encountered design hurdles such as coordinating equipment locations in accordance with building codes and obtaining approval from the Landmarks Preservation Committee. The project required relocation of the apartment’s gas meter to a Con-Ed approved space within the residence.
