Salty & Sweet’s vision for a fun gathering spot in Boerne is now a reality. The vintage candy shoppe (and one of the first pretzel shops in the area) recently made its debut on Main Street. The menu is just what you’d expect – all those vintage sweets plus ice cream, candy, pretzels, and popcorn. For those with food allergies, there are multiple options in both the sweet and salty arenas. The family owned business prides itself on hiring special needs teens and adults to give them an opportunity to gain workplace skills.
The project involved the reuse of existing HVAC equipment and the addition of LED lighting, a cooking hood and various candy and ice cream machines. One of the challenges of the design was to isolate cooking areas with a glass wall to give customers a peek into the kitchen. Energy efficiency was addressed in HVAC systems and LED lighting.
