University of Hartford Gengras Student Union Project Wins Connecticut Building Congress Project Team Award

The S/L/A/M Collaborative in collaboration with Consulting Engineering Services and an exemplary design team took home the 2018 CBC Small Project Award of Merit for our team’s work on the renovation of the Gengras Student Union at the University of Hartford.

Each year, the Connecticut Building Congress recognizes outstanding building projects that exemplify project team excellence and represent the best practices in teamwork by project owners, architects, engineers constructors and trades.

A top priority for this project was upgrading the building’s 1960 vintage mechanical systems, incorporating efficient lighting and upgrading the dated technology infrastructure. The new Student Union is an inviting and vibrant community space for students, faculty and staff. The renovation provides a new multi-purpose event space, improves the outdoor patio, reorganizes student hang-out and club areas and updates the student lounge.
